Hereditary Angioedema With C1 Inhibitor Deficiency - Clinical Trials and Evidence Based Treatment, Gargnano, Italy 2010

Palazzo Feltrinelli
Gargnano del Garda (Brescia) - Italy
26-29 September 2010

Treatment of hereditary angioedema with C1 inhibitor deficiency (HAE) has developed since the discovery of the genetic defect in 1963. Over these years a large clinical experience on prophylaxis and treatment of HAE symptoms has been accumulated and treatment guidelines have been produced based on this experience.
In the last few years a total of 9 major controlled clinical trials on HAE treatment have been completed, but the results of these trials have not yet been translated into indication for clinical practice.
Aim of this meeting is to use the evidence provided by these trials to update the existing guidelines for the treatment of HAE.
Tool to reach the aim will be discussion among HAE experts, HAE patients and phrmacompanies producing drugs for HAE.
